Endless trails on varying terrain in the old-growth Kinghurst Forest offer plentiful opportunities for birdwatching, camping, canoeing on the ponds, exploring the old-growth maple and cedar forest or hosting special events. Designated as an Area of Natural and Scientific Interest (ANSI), Kinghurst Forest is a special place that offers a rare glimpse into Ontario’s natural past.
My husband and I had an amazing time at Camp Cedar! The site is secluded and we didn’t see anyone else during the time we were there. We brought our dog as well and we had such a great time hiking the trails on property.
I loved the outdoor kitchen, it really helped to make meal prepping and clean up much easier. Plenty of water was provided for our stay. The outhouse was clean and a nice addition to the campsite. We were really grateful for how much firewood was provided as we love to have fires throughout the day and night. Overall the stay was great and we would definitely come back again
This campsite is a peaceful retreat. Enjoyed the lagoons. Highly recommended it for a nice getaway.
Great place to get away during COVID and have a socially distanced vacation with another couple on one of the other listings here. The grounds are beautiful and the ponds are nice for a quick dip. It’s truly in nature so expect all that comes with it, but with more comforts than regular camping. There was some late night music on one of the nights from a neighbour if property, but one can’t be too picky. The neighbouring Kinghurst Nature Reaerve trails are a must!
This was my first time camping and it was a blast. Never thought id enjoy it as much as I did.
An oasis not too far from the city. Platform for your tent, an outdoor sink, separate bbq and fire-pit engulfed by nature.
We had a wonderful time at Freija! The campground was private and a close walk to the ponds (which our dogs thoroughly enjoyed). It was just what we needed after 3 months of being cooped up. The peace and quiet are something you do not get at a normal campground. We would love to return.
It was a great stay. The site had wood, basic kitchen stuff and first aid kit ready. Would be a good experience for people who are not so experienced with camping but like outdoors!
The place is truly amazing! You can expect a huge and wild forest, two beautiful lakes to swim and enjoy nature, a perfect camping site with everything you need. You want to take time out of the city and enjoy nature: this is a perfect match!
We (three brothers and a dog) loved our two-night stay here, a quiet campsite in the middle of the cedar woods. The ponds is a short walk away and the site has everything we needed: firewood, water, and a compost toilet. Clear directions, peaceful setting, and plenty of room to relax around the fire.
Wonderfully secluded and a perfect place to relax or explore… We saw a vast array of birds, a deer, a rabbit, a lot of frogs and toads, and many other little creatures during our 2 day stay.

The property was almost exactly as described- we were a bit disappointed to find that the platform for the tent was not at our campsite, however, the ground was relatively flat and there was lots of space for us to sent up our large tent.
This camp site had everything we needed- lots of water, firewood, and the grill as well as some cooking supplies were all handy. This would be a great spot for someone who does not have a ton of camping gear. Compost toilet was very clean and easy to use. We were also surprised to find some outdoor showers near the ponds.
The site was completely private and we hardly even heard any other guests on the property. The trails and ponds were beautiful and we enjoyed exploring the property.
Although we had some rain this weekend, we enjoyed our stay and will be back for a longer stay next time!
This was our first camping trip and we loved every bit of it. The place was amazing and we had all the privacy we wanted. Pools were clean and swimming in it was the best after a long drive. Valentine was very helpful and replied quickly to all our queries. The property had disinfectants placed in essential places and it made us comfortable to use all the shared stuff like the canoe, paddle boat etc. There are nice trails to explore around the property. We will definitely revisit this place:)
Freija is a beautiful space. The camp site has everything you’d need and more. The forest is magical. We can’t wait to go back!
Nice camping spot with some thoughtful amenities. We enjoyed walking the trails and swimming in the ponds. The spectacular night skies were the highlight of our trip.
Great view of the night sky! The farm pets are adorable. We had one of the cats stay with us the entire night. Everything was clean and tidy when we got there. Would definitely come back

My girlfriend and I had a great time camping! the place is nice, quite, clean and very beautiful. communication with Valentine was easy and he left us a basket of strawberries along with everything you need to camp including clean BBQ, tons of fire wood, light and water.
we swam in the pond which was great and went hiking near by. looking forward to come back for more fun!
If you want secluded camping, this is the best. Nice land for pitching tents with the nearby ponds for swimming. The included amenities make for nice touches that make camping more pleasant. I would highly recommend this as a camp site. It’s well worth the money.
We enjoyed the cedar camp site. It had everything ready for us just to be able to set up our tent and relax. We also really enjoyed swimming in the pond. It was very refreshing and clean.
The firewood available to us also was greatly appreciated and we were able to have a lovely evening sitting by the fire in the stars.

Great camping spot. Everything was as described. Outhouse was clean and just steps from our site. Shower by the pond was a neat experience.
We wish the solar lights on the windmill were working. It’s dark by the pond at night but cozy spot to watch the stars at night.
If you’re a camper, the cedar site is fantastic. They have 2 other options if you rather not stay in a tent.

This was our second visit and would love to visit again!! We got to enjoy the thrills of rainy camping, and our dog loved to explore the nature.
Cedar Camp is a wonderful place to go if you wanna recharge your batteries and rest you mind. the camp is clean and quiet and you feel at home as soon as you enter it. it’s very private and won’t be bothered by anyone. plus the clean and pristine pond feels like a private lake that you can enjoy almost all for yourself. Valentine was a greathostand had everything ready for us with fresh water and wood for firecamp. will be back for sure!
I had a short but fantastic stay. Property is absolutely beautiful and everything was very pleasant, valentine was a great host.

One of the best camping experiences we’ve ever had. The space is open and beautiful, with lush green forest surrounding you. Great paths to explore on and two amazing ponds to cool off in, thanks for such a great stay!
Campsite is in an awesome forest meadow. Lots of wildflowers surrounded by tall Maples. At night the forest is full of lightning bugs and is great for stargazing. Feels very surreal.
Not a bad getaway. Nice tent platform and fire pit, however quite a few weeds all over the campsite which made it difficult to walk. Be prepared for lots of bugs.
Also, no check in from the host which made me feel a bit uneasy. Over OK stay.
Highly recommend this campsite if you’ve never gone camping before!
Lovely stay out in nature, surrounded by trees, singing birds, and short walk away to trails, beautiful ponds where we sat outside to watch the fish, turtles and bats in the evening. Beautiful night sky and hikes nearby. Easy to set up in clean campsite, with wood provided and water down there for us to wash up. Tarp even set up for us – that was a nice surprise and touch. Overall happy with our glamping weekend at Freija! Would recommend – but expect to camp/glamp and pack what you need. We did and had a great time. Don’t forget your bathing suit – a refreshing dip in the pond is the cherry on top for this nature destination!

Great spot for camping! There was a little confusion during check-in, but Valentine was super accommodating and quick to help us. Would definitely recommend for a small group of friends.
The Cedar Campsite is absolutely magical. The site is quick and easy to get to, and is completely private. We walked around Freija and it was breathtaking, we love being out in nature and this felt like our own private retreat. We didn’t run into anyone while we were there. One of the best parts is swimming in the pond! Valentine was very easy to communicate with, incredibly friendly and responsive. We will most definitely be returning.
Highly recommend. This is our second time being there. It’s a peaceful and spacious location with easy access to a serene lake. Lots of firewood and some helpful supplies. Happy to go back. Owner was helpful and friendly.

We had a great time at the Cedar Campsite. Swimming and canoeing in the ponds was a highlight-clear and refreshing water, beautiful surroundings, and lots of wildlife sitings. The ponds were also great spot for stargazing. We happened to be there during a meteor shower and it was magical. It felt very private despite there being other rentals on site. The outhouse was clean. The bbq and kitchenette served us well. The hosts were were extremely accommodating, friendly, and communicative.
