Forest loft

Our one-of-a-kind forest loft overlooks a valley, surrounded by tall cedars and maples. Bring your friends (pets allowed) and spend time hiking, birdwatching, canoeing on the pond and enjoying Canadian and Ontario nature in it’s purest, most magical form. Two clear ponds are a 5-minute walk away from the barn and are great for swimming during the summer months. Above all, the convenient location close to Bruce Peninsula offers a perfect weekend getaway with plenty of nearby adventures.

The eco-friendly loft was built as a laid-back open space to enjoy the richness of the lush surrounding forest. Only recycled, upcycled and environmentally-friendly materials were used in building this unique indoor-outdoor experience amongst the old growth.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there really a basketball net?
Yes, it’s regulation-height and there’s a basketball and a pump provided.

What is there to do in the area?
First of all, we suggest enjoying our ponds, taking a hike to see the old-growth and meadows of Kinghurst Forest, along with taking a drive to many of the nearby waterfalls, the Grotto and the Amish triangle.

Are there a lot of mosquitos and insects?
We are very lucky to live in a very robust ecosystem, as a result, you shouldn’t be surprised if you have insects and other creatures like birds, squirrels and racoons visiting the loft, especially at night. However, the bedroom is protected by a bug net and we do provide repellant. We are located in a dry spot so they are generally not a nuisance.

Is it pet-friendly?
Yes! Pets love the open loft space (and yes, we’ve hosted cats too). We just ask that you keep them on leash on the trails to avoid encounters with wildlife.

Can I make fire?
Yes. We will provide all of the firewood you will need for your stay to use by the firepit. Additionally, if you run out, we will be happy to drop by with a fresh, sustainably-sourced batch.

Can you eat the mushrooms in the forest?

Please do not forage for edibles or mushrooms – there are over 5,000 known species of mushrooms in the area and many of them are highly poisonous. Another reason to leave it to the experts!

” All fungi are edible. Some fungi are only edible once.”
– Terry Pratchett

Can I go swimming?

As long as there is no ice, you are welcome to enjoy our large private ponds, a 5-minute walk from the loft. Water in both ponds is fresh, clean and spring-fed. They are safe for swimming for turtles, many happy fish and humans! Keep in mind that both ponds are very deep and not suitable for beginner swimmers. Depending on the season, a canoe will be left out on the pond for you to use.
